The Challenge

With 97% coverage of the vast Indonesian archipelago, 125 million customers and 50 percent market share, Telkomsel was in a great position to jump into the connected car market for fleets and families. They had the brand, the marketing channels as well as the service and support infrastructure, but lacked a telematics platform to offer.

The Solution

Modus enabled Telkomsel to offer connected car solutions designed specifically for Indonesian fleets and for young drivers, with tools to help both managers and parents improve driver performance and safety. The platform supports both mobile device and on board OBDII data collection. The Modus API and SDK tools allow the telematics data to be shared with Telkomsel’s existing operations infrastructure, and enabled the company to smoothly enter the telematics market with state-of-the-art solutions.

The company’s gross profit is up by 75%. It is also adding new features including Wi-Fi for field force automation, enabling real-time updates of vehicle arrival times, delays and more. As a result, Telkomsel won an innovation award at the IoT Asia and the Gaikindo Indonesia Auto Show for technological innovation and for promoting driver safety.
